Buckwheat (lat.Fagópyrum) is a cereal crop that belongs to the Buckwheat family (Polygonaceae).

Buckwheat is now a staple food commodity in many countries around the world. Russia, China, Ukraine, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Japan, and South Korea are the leading producers of this crop.
