Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene (PP)

LLC "RAYHAAN GROUP" has the ability to supply:

Polypropylene is a non-polar synthetic thermoplastic polymer that belongs to the polyolefin family. Propylene polymerized substance. Solid white.

Commercial polypropylene is made by polymerizing propylene with Ziegler-Natta catalysts or metallocene catalysts. At a pressure of 10 atm, polymerization takes place. And temperatures of up to 80 degrees Celsius. In 1957, a Ziegler-Natta catalyst was used to create polypropylene for the first time. The discoveries of Ziegler and Natta made it possible to produce isotactic polypropylene.

In 2002, the use of metallocene catalysts in polypropylene production accounted for less than 0.5 percent of total global polypropylene production; however, by 2006, the use of metallocene catalysts is expected to increase to 8%.

The position of the side groups (CH3-) in relation to the main chain has an important effect on the polymer's properties. Polypropylene may be isotactic, syndiotactic, or atactic. Isotactic polypropylene is the most common and essential form. Isotactic polypropylene has a high degree of crystallinity, as well as a high degree of strength, hardness, and heat resistance. Atactic polypropylene is a substance that is very flexible, soft, and sticky.

In industry, isotactic macromolecules are often used to produce a polymer.

Acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and other inorganic reactive media are all immune to polypropylene. It does not dissolve in organic liquids at room temperature, but it swells and dissolves in other solvents, such as benzene, carbon tetrachloride, and ether, at higher temperatures.

Polypropylene is a material with a low moisture absorption rate. It has excellent electrical insulation properties across a wide temperature range.

Polypropylene granules come in both colored and uncolored varieties. Pigments or organic dyes are used for coloring. Crystallizing material that is low in weight. Distinguish between isotactic polypropylene (homopolymer), block copolymer with ethylene (copolymer), random copolymer (random copolymer), metallocene polypropylene (mPP), and cross-linked polypropylene (cross-linked polypropylene) (PP-X, PP-XMOD).

The mechanical properties of polypropylene are excellent. The homopolymer has increased rigidity and can be translucent, but at low temperatures it becomes brittle. The impact resistance of the block copolymer is excellent, and it can be used at low temperatures. Has a low resistance to wear. It's easy to recycle. The introduction of a structurant (nucleator) as well as the use of special technical methods (lowering the mold temp) ensure the material's transparency.
